Sometimes your images are not lost, they are just hidden on your Android. So if you need to find these hidden pictures, a file manager app will allow you to view hidden items. Once you enabled the viewing of hidden files, you'll need to track them down, which some file manager apps can help with as well.

Find hidden Android pictures

1. Download or find a file manager app. Many Android devices come with a file manager app already installed. It may be called "My Files" or "File Manager." If you don't have one, you can download a variety of free file manager apps from the Google Play.

2. Open your file manager app. You'll see the various files and folders stored in your Android phones or tablets. Open the Settings menu for the file explorer app. The process for this will vary slightly depending on the apps you're using.

3. After you've opened the menu, you need to find and enable the hidden files option. This will display files and folders that are normally hidden.

4. Once you've enabled hidden files, you still need to track them down. Hidden pictures could be anywhere, but it's probably best to check the "Downloads" and "Pictures" folders first. You may also want to check the "Camera" folder.

5. Generally, files and folders that were hidden will have a . in front of the name. For example, to hide a folder called "Private," someone could rename it to .Private.

Note:
If you see a file named .nomedia, it was added to keep images and videos in the folder from appearing in the Gallery and other media apps.
